RUW! is the combination of the word “raw” and the German word “rau”, pronounced as the Dutch word “ruw“, an initiative of the Dutch artist and printmaker Hans Könings and the Berlin photographer and architect Thomas Hillig founded in 2013.

Limited edition graphic artist books and magazines are usually do-it-yourself works produced in small and very small editions and distributed through insider channels. The international Artists collective Ruw! consists of artist friends from a wide variety of art media who dedicate themselves to a theme once a year: curious, unadorned, raw, playful, lustful. The participating artists constitute a kind of open collective into which new artists are admitted, while others pause on a voluntary basis.
