Edition 502 ist ein Verlag, initiiert von Robert Czolkoß, Tillmann Ziola und Tim Ziola. Durch das aufkommende Interesse am Publizieren eigener Projekte und Werke anderer Autor:innen aus unserem Umfeld, entstand die kollektive Idee der Gründung eines Verlages. Das Projekt besteht seit 2018. Der Fokus richtet sich auf unabhängige, subversive und kollaborative Publikationen und Kunstpraktiken. Der Verlag dient gleichzeitig als Forum.

Der Verlag erhebt das Buch zum autonomen Kunstwerk. Dennoch ist das Oeuvre nicht auf das Medium Buch im herkömmlichen Sinne beschränkt, welcher ein Buch wie folgt definiert: Ein Objekt, bestehend aus mehreren zusammengehefteten, bedruckten, beschriebenen oder leeren Blättern, die in einem Einband zu einem ganzen eingebunden sind. Edition 502 hat ein variables Verständnis des Mediums Buch, besonders für experimentelle Herangehensweisen an das Medium Buch ist der Verlag geöffnet.

Jedem Produkt des Verlages kommt eine hohe individuelle Wertschätzung entgegen. Der Verlag publiziert vorwiegend in physischen Editionen. Das Kollektiv vertritt die Haltung, dass das physische Buch ein zeitloses Medium ist, gleichwertig zu klassischen Kunstmedien wie zum Beispiel der Malerei oder der Skulptur.

Edition 502 is a publishing house initiated by Robert Czolkoß, Tillmann Ziola and Tim Ziola. Through the emerging interest in publishing own projects and works of other authors from our environment, the collective idea of founding a publishing house was born. The project exists since 2018, focusing on independent, subversive and collaborative publications and art practices. The publishing house also serves as a forum.

The publishing house elevates the book to an autonomous work of art. Nevertheless, the oeuvre is not limited to the medium of the book in the conventional sense, which defines a book as follows: An object consisting of several sheets stapled together, printed, written on, or blank, bound in a cover to form a whole. Edition 502 has a variable understanding of the medium of the book; the publishing house is particularly open to experimental approaches to the medium of the book.

Each product of the publishing house is given a high individual esteem. The publishing house produces mainly in physical editions. The collective takes the position that the physical book is a timeless medium, equal to classical art media such as painting or sculpture.
