Miriam Jonas & Sascha Appelhoff
IMG SRC
19 - 28 February 2016
INVITED BY LENA VON GOEDEKE
Sascha Appelhoff uses a wide range of techniques to produce and install images. Focusing on processes which lead to pictures and accidents revealing aesthetic qualities, he picks, reuses, and rearranges stuff from the internet as well as from his own works. Every piece Appelhoff produces is a potential material for a following work. Miriam Jonas is a manipulator of architectural elements and their companions, an explorer who traverses the boundaries between image and sculpture. Her works oscillate between both uncanny and humorous dysfunctions of every day surroundings and present their secret lives based on their own sublime, materialistic errors. This exhibition contains new and earlier works, as well as collaborations between the two Berlin-based artists. A fine line is drawn between their similarities in addition to relating their distinctions.
